Spring is coming!

This weekend a sudden we had a sudden burst of spring like weather in London. This little reminder that Spring is around the corner means one thing; time to get colours out! Proper, bright, summery colours. You can’t beat them. While I shall forever be a devotee of black as my wardrobe staple, there comes a point where you just need colour in your life. This week I have been mixing my S/S and A/W wardrobes and getting that pop of colour back in my life and a spring back in my step.

This apple green skirt is so fresh. It has Spring is here written all over it. The colour really stands out and is perfect for that first step into your S/S wardrobe. It pairs so well with blacks and greys, enabling it to transcend the boundary between the seasons. It is definitely not yet warm enough to stray from tights and jackets/coats, but by mixing items from the seasons I created a lighter look that I didn’t freeze to death in.

The lighter fabric paired with heavier leather jacket is such a classic yet liberating and energising look. I love mixing textures and this pairing of light cotton and leather is a favourite of mine.  You can add a leather jacket to anything and it looks great and adds edge, but this contrast of textures is just perfect. The skirt actually has a very subtle floral pattern in as well which adds to this. Its light, flowy and delicate look next to the jacket is one I love for S/S and can’t wait to be wearing more often.

The pale grey studded cross-body bag adds a tough edge and pulls the outfit together really well. It marries the leather jacket and floaty skirt together brilliantly. Black would be too harsh here, and a tote too heavy. The thin shoulder strap and pale colour keep the freshness of the Spring element of the outfit, while the studs add to the edge the jacket brings. This creates a fabulous delicate yet tough vibe which it perfect for this time of year.

I actually wore this while working from home on Monday, although this is something I would also wear to the office or out for drinks. It did somewhat stereotypically bring a smile to my face and put me a spring in my step. Real colour has a tendency to do that when it makes an appearance in your life.

How are you embracing the upcoming warmer months through your outfits? ST x
