I love a theme or a special occasion to dress for. Who doesn’t?! Yesterday the Chinese New Year provided me with just such an occasion. I saw in the year of the goat in an oriental inspired outfit based around one centre piece; the kimono.
There’s something fabulous and effortlessly chic about a kimono. The way it drapes around you, the silk fabric just falls perfectly and the designs and colours used can be amazing. This one is a simple black, white and grey silk version from H&M. The colours may be neutral but the design incredibly intricate and it never fails to wow. The intrinsic prettiness of it adds a feminine touch to an outfit. I offset this with an all black outfit, pointed toe sandals and a studded bag. I am a huge fan of contrasting textures and this tough and edgy meets floaty, elegant and pretty look works fantastically well.
All in all this was the perfect outfit for my dinner and drinks to celebrate the advent of the year of the goat. What was your outfit of choice this Chinese New Year?
And I wish you all have a fabulous year of the goat, may it be full of happiness and awesome outfits. ST x
